We are pleased and honored to have Chuck Hovey join Gianelli Vineyards and Winery as our winemaker.  Chuck is one of the most highly respected winemakers in the Sierra Foothills appellation.

 

Chuck Hovey brings a level of pride and winemaking experience to our vineyard/winery and is now part of the Gianelli Estate family.

 

This is Chuck’s first new venture since leaving Stevenot Winery in 2007. Chuck dedicated a total of 24 years to Stevenot, bringing the winery nationwide recognition receiving over 500 medals at major wine competitions and repeated favorable reviews in major publications and newspapers.  With Chuck’s pioneering spirit, he established new grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Verdelho, Graciano and Albarino as well as making Chardonnay a sought-out varietal in the Sierra Foothills.

 

In addition to being our new winemaker, Chuck is also owner of Hovey Wine Consulting and achieved a lifelong dream when he released his first Chardonnay in April of 2008.

 

Chuck lives in Murphys with his wife Jan and son Kyle.
